Morning Call: Live Advent Calendar Surprises in Historic Bethlehem

It’s the perfect attraction for the Christmas City — a Live Advent Calendar.
Historic Bethlehem’s 13th annual event — the only one of its kind in the country — runs through Dec. 23 at the 1810 Goundie House on Main Street.
Every day at 5:30 p.m., people gather outside the building. A person is chosen to knock on the door. When the door opens, a representative of a local business associated with the Downtown Bethlehem Association comes out to hand out gifts to the audience. Sometimes there is entertainment.
