Lehigh Valley Live: This year, you can view Bethlehem’s annual house tour without leaving your living room

June 17th, 2020 |

Written by Connor Lagore for Lehigh Valley Live

What if you could check out some of the Lehigh Valley’s most beautiful homes and gardens … from your own home or garden?

That’s what Bethlehem Historic Museum and Sites is making happen in 2020 with its annual Rooms to View House Tour. With the coronavirus pandemic still affecting the Lehigh Valley, the tour has gone virtual, and the video tours and other house tour events will be archived for you to view at your own leisure.

A Zoom event featuring three of the homes aired on June 12, but all those three and nine other homes and gardens will be available to tour virtually starting on June 19. The gorgeous properties range from downtown historic Bethlehem to Saucon Valley to Riegelsville, but you won’t have to move a muscle viewing from your favorite spot on the couch.

A virtual ticket for access to the tours and other activities can be purchased for $40 at store.historicbethlehem.org.

In addition to seeing exquisitely crafted homes and tenderly cared-for gardens, this Friday’s virtual event features some helpful instruction to spruce up your abode as well.

If you’ve ever wondered how flower arrangements are put together so perfectly, both Allium Floral Design and Ornithea House of Flowers will be revealing some tricks of the trade during the tour. President of the Lehigh Art Alliance Elena Shackleton will be hosting a watercolor paint-along as well.

And if you need something to add some flavor to your favorite dish, Sharon Donchez of the Bethlehem Garden Club will be providing some tips on how to start your own herb garden.

With all this inspiration, maybe your home will be part of the tour next year.
