Celebrate the bounty of the fall season at our Apple Days festival and Market to Go at Burnside Plantation!

Apple Days Overview

It’s autumn on historic Burnside Plantation! Celebrate the bounty of the season at Apple Days festival and Market to Go.

  • Step back in time in our NEW “Historic Area” featuring living history demonstrations and hands-on activities.
  • Tour the 1748/1818 farmhouse and learn about daily life for a busy family hundreds of years ago.
  • See “what’s cooking” in the summer kitchen then quench your thirst with a visit to the Tavern.
  • Enjoy hands-on kids’ activities, a children’s hay bale maze, shopping with local vendors, sweet treats from some of the Lehigh Valley’s finest bakeries, live music, pony rides, visiting farm animals and SO MUCH MORE.

Market to Go – September 13 from 4 PM – 7 PM

Festival Dates – September 14 & 15 from 10 AM – 5 PM

Parking

Parking for Apple Days will be available in the Moravian University Lot on Mauch Chunk Road. There will be shuttles available to bring you to the festival.

Apple Days Tavern

Banko Beverage Apple Days Tavern features a curated selection of seasonal craft beverages.

Enjoy samples with your tasting ticket or purchase full size pours of your favorite beverages!

NEW! Demonstrations & Programming

Visit the Historic Area and meet demonstrating craftsmen including the blacksmith and chandler (candle maker)!

Try your hand at some toys and games that require no batteries, then make your own special game to play at home! Write with a quill pen, churn butter and MORE. Activities in the Historic Area are FREE with your paid admission.

Enjoy interesting and entertaining programming throughout the festival in the Johnson Barn Pop-Up Education Center!

Education Center Schedule

  • 3:30 PM Instructed Lovefeast

At 3:30 PM each day, experience the uniquely Moravian tradition of the Love Feast, under the direction of Pastor Derek French, Nazareth Moravian Church. This act of hospitality and fellowship will be explained while participants enjoy complimentary refreshments.

Local favorite band The Wonton Soups will rock the stage on Sunday at 1:45 PM! Many new bands including Rare Spirits and The Big Squeeze will join us for the first time along with returning favorites The Masons and others.

Donut Eating Contest

Join us for the annual Donut Eating Contest at Apple Days! Both Saturday and Sunday at 1 PM on the Community Stage there will be an adult (16 and older) and kids (15 and under) donut eating contest!

Sign ups are first come, first serve with a limit of 12 participants per contest.

Apple Dessert Baking Contest

Ready, Set, Bake! Sign up to enter the Apple Dessert Baking Contest!

*Note: Event admission is not included with contest registration. Bring your entries to the designated table at the Community Stage beginning at 1 PM. Judging will begin at 1:15 PM. Please be present to talk with the judges about your recipe.

Adult Contest Requirements:

  • Exhibitor must be 16 years or older and an amateur chef.
  • You are responsible for your own serving dish. No part of the entry will be returned.
  • If flour is required in recipe, King Arthur flour must be used with receipt of purchase included.
  • Entrants recipe, name, phone number, address, age, and email must be printed on an 8.5″ x 11” sheet of paper and submitted along with their entry on the day of the contest.
  • Recipe must include at least 1 cup of apples.
  • Recipe must include all ingredients, quantities, and preparation instructions.
  • Refrigeration is not available. If your dessert needs to be chilled prior to judging, please pack in a cooler.
  • Including Gluten Free Desserts! (Will be judged separately)

  • Overall Appearance & Creativity – 25 points
  • Texture – 25 points
