At The Kemerer Museum: Design your own Silk Fan

Dating back as far as 3,000 years, handheld fans have been used in dance, in war, to communicate secret messages, and to keep us cool. This month, decorate your very own handheld silk fan. While you’re here, learn about the little-known language of fans.

From noon to 1pm, enjoy “Storytime at the Museum” with Julia Brennan from the Bethlehem Area Public Library! Julia will be at the Kemerer to read books like The Empress and the SilkwormMagical Silkworm: A Story About a Birthday Gift Told in English and Chinese, and Silk Roads: The Illustrated History of the World.

At The Moravian Museum: Make your own Embroidered Hoops

Try your hand at cross-stitch! Work freehand or follow a simple pattern. While you’re here, explore our collection of historical Moravian needlework!

Trick or treat! Halloween is right around the corner, and you know what that means – it’s time to figure out how you’re going to carry all your candy! At the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, get in the Halloween spirit by decorating your very own canvas trick or treat bag!

At The Moravian Museum: Make Your Own Fall Scented Candles

The tradition of candle making goes back thousands of years, but it wasn’t until recently that we began to add scents. At the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem, fall into Fall and make your very own fall scented candles! Candles will be made with beeswax sheets and fragrance oils.
