Baked into Bethlehem baking challenge

Tickets are only $5 for ages 13 & up and free for children 12 and under and includes admission to the Baked into Bethlehem exhibition at the Moravian Museum and the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts.

Sweet surprises await in Bethlehem as the 10 talented finalists unveil their show stopping mystery desserts that hail from a family celebration or holiday tradition in the Baked into Bethlehem Baking Challenge Finals.

The public is invited to meet the bakers, hear the stories behind each creation and most important, sample the 10 delicious desserts during this fun-filled afternoon. Plus, Bethany Carrigan from King Arthur Baking Co. will be on hand to answer your most challenging baking questions during a special Q&A session.

Finalists must bring their entry (ready for display) and three (3) copies of the recipe to the Luckenbach Mill and “host” a table, sharing samples of their entry with the audience following judging.

Baked into Bethlehem Baking Challenge

Calling all bakers! Share your skills and talents with the community while enjoying the opportunity to win great prizes. In the Baked into Bethlehem Baking Challenge, bakers will demonstrate their baking prowess over two rounds of competition and highlight how culinary traditions are a thread that connects us beyond the dinner table. A team of professional judges including Richard Groman from iconic local bakery Groman’s will taste and judge all entries based on: Flavor (40 points), Appearance (25 points), Texture (25 points) and Story Behind the Recipe (10 points). A $10 registration fee applies.

Round 1 – April 17-18

Bake a recipe that brings your family’s story to life, whether it has been handed down for generations or is a new creation that connects you to your family history. Contestants must bring three (3) copies of the recipe, a brief explanation of why you chose this particular recipe, and 12 individually packaged servings to the Luckenbach Mill (459 Old York Road, Bethlehem) between 4 PM and 7 PM on Friday, April 17. Then join us at Community Heritage Day on Saturday, April 18 to learn the six (6) bakers who advance to the finals on May 30!

The bakers who advance to the finals will be announced at 10:30 AM on April 18 at the Heritage Day Old-Fashioned Bake Sale table. Packaged entries become part of the bake sale for the community to enjoy at the event.
