Block Printing Workshop Grist Miller's House

In this course, students have the opportunity to learn the historic art of engraving – a traditional technique once used to create images that could be reproduced over and over again for publication in books, newspapers and for display in personal collections and gallery exhibitions.

This workshop provides an in-depth look at the process and its various applications as well as how to execute a print from start to finish. It also covers troubleshooting and tool safety. Victoria will lead a hands-on block printing workshop where participants will trace, carve, ink and print their own prints inspired by the collection of Historic Bethlehem.

Participants take home their block along with any prints they create. No prior experience needed!

What You’ll Learn

  • The history and importance of printing during the 18th century
  • How to use basic printmaking tools

About the Artist

Block Printing Workshop Grist Miller's House Victoria Beck Headshot

Victoria Beck is a Lehigh Valley-based artist and founder of the print collaborative InkHound Press. Beck’s lifelong interest in drawing led her to pursue a career in art and illustration. In 2016 she received her BFA from Kutztown University. It was there that she discovered a love of printmaking, using both classic and experimental techniques to create imagery. Her work can be described as largely figural and integrated within botanical motifs and patterns found in nature.
